How to restrict access to SP doc lib for external group of users?

    Hello,

I got an InfoPath (2013) form designed to allow different group of users to submit the data to  a common SP(2013) document library. This form is published as a web base form. How do I restrict access from other user groups in seeing others document in SP?

In another word, group A after submission to SP Doc Lib, they only can view what they submitted not group B or C. Is this something can be configured O-T-B? Appreciate all the helps.

    Hi Tom,

There is a way switch pages in InfoPath and show a restriction page on form load depnding on the current user. If you are using the Active DIrectory's User Profile Service, you can use this a leverage to determine which group the current user belongs to, specifically the department. If not, then you might need to create a separate list which you will query on form load to determine groups.

For example, add a Group field to your forms schema and populate this with the submitter's group. At the form load rules, add logic to query the user's group; If the user accessing the form is not part of the submitter's group, add an action to switch the page to the Restricted page.

If submitter's Group is not equal to CurrentUserGroup, switch view to Restricted Page.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Don and All,

Let me explain again the scenario that I am stuck with and need your inputs:

    The goal:

Allow all users of the same dept (A,B & C) can see what others (in the same dept)  submitted to SP (2013) document library but others'.

    The setup:

Infopath form with data connection to SQL , published and submitted to sp doc lib. In SP site, there are one Form list/doc Libray and one Data Connection Lib.

All users from different departments will use the same form (browser-based) to submit the data. All data resides in the same library at  the top level site.

    The problems & questions:

Is there a way to set exlusive permission by View.  So the whole dept A,B or C can see their peers' submissions. Assuming views are filtered by dept and/or Created By [Me] ?

I tried and it did not seem to work, so I try another approach. Make the main lib as a Lib Template and use it in the  dept subsite. The problem here is, when the form is launched  (by selecting "+ Add another Item") from the Dept subsite and after its submission, the data was captured in the main lib and not the department. I try to set up a rule for submission button of the form ()to submit to the dept subsite location and republish the for there. It still did the samething.

Can some one share with me if I missed anything or did something wrong here?

    Thanks

    Hi Tom,

Unfortunately, I am unable to determine why switching to another view based on the current user's department isn't working for you. Could you provide me with more details on this? Perhaps attach your form so I could get a clearer idea on what is not working.

As for creating a subsite, have you checked if the submit to library data connection's URL is targetting the correct sub site? Sometimes re-ublishing the form does not automtically adjust the URLs.
