I've been researching this site and others for a week or so and continue to come up stymied on what I thought would be a very simple task. I finally broke down and registered so I could ask for some advice.
I want to create a very simple, short form to record 'attendance' of associates for a virtual training seminar. Put another way, "Here's this new policy. Read it and then digitally sign the form to show your acknowledgement." All associates would have access to the sharepoint library, but not all associates would have to sign off on every form.
I envisioned about three simple text fields at the top of the form (Course Name, Course Date, Location) and then a repeating table (Associate Name and Associate ID) into which the associates could 'register' their attendance. Basically, by filling in those two simple columns, and submitting, they would 'sign' the form.
However,
1) I don't want people modifying the signatures of those who've already signed, but I can't make all the 'preexisting' table entries read-only while keeping the 'new' row available for data entry and
2) I would prefer for the associate's name to be populated automatically in some fashion, so that they couldn't choose someone else's name and register for someone else. (alternatively, a verification rule might work here, but I got stymied on how to compare the current user to the last row in the table).
Just a note: VTSA is available to me, but my background is in VBA and I haven't even touched the VTSA editor. I'm in a corporate environment where installations require administrator privileges that I can't get, so I'm afraid Qrules isn't an option for me either.
Is the repeating table the way to go? Can those obstacles be overcome simply? Or should I try a completely different approach?
Thanks!
(Sorry -- I had this all spaced out but it all ran together.)
