InfoPath Dev

 Hi All,

 I have a checkbox (chkA) and three textboxes (txtB, txtC and txtD).  I need to fill txtC with the value entered in txtB when chkA is checked, but doesn't work in preview or Sharepoint.  I created the following action rule:

Condition: chkA = TRUE

Action: Set field txtC value to txtB.

Seems pretty straightforward to me, but it is not working.

Notes:

I have 4 other rules on txtC.  2 are validation rules and 2 are formatting rules.

Validation Rule 1 

Condition: chkA = TRUE

Screen Tip: Cannot be blank.

Validation Rule 2

Condition: txtC is not blank and txtD is not blank.

Screen Tip: txtC should be less than txtD.

Formatting Rule 1

Condtion: chkA = FALSE

Formatting: Hide txtC and disable txtC.

Formatting Rule 2

Condtion: chkA = TRUE

Formatting: Nothing (enables txtC).

Please note all textboxes are Decimal data type.  Also, using InfoPath 2010.

Could the rules be causing a conflict (possibly formatting rule 2)?  If it is then I don't see why.

What field is the action rule set on?

Thanks for responding.  All rules mentioned above are set on field txtC.

 I got it resolved!

I added the action rule to chkA instead of txtC and then it worked.

A common issue I see is rules set on the target field. But rules fire when a field changes, so if the rule to set txtC is ON txtC, as you realized, the rule was not going to fire. :)

oh my god, this is a masterpiece. Your answer Hilary Stoupa is solved my issue as well. I like the fire demonstrative example so much .
