Sure, We set default values for 1 - 8 in this repeating table. Now I need to set default values for when I get down to row 8 when I insert the next set of sub-paragraphs with out setting the defaults for sub-paragraphs 1 - 7. Thanks!

To clarify, I'm trying to set default values for 8. a., 8. b., 8.c. but not for any of the other values for  sub paragraphs 1 - 7.

Ok. So, here is a sample with rules on group 4 and group 6. The first group 6 gets inserted with group 4, which is why the rules are split out.

I can't see any rules for group 4 or 6. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Wow, this is going to help me a lot. I'm having a little trouble following it but I'll keep trying. Do you recommend an xml file if I have 12 or more entries, or should I just enter the xPath you provided 12 or so times? I've attached another form with new xml file, I'm trying to achieve the same results as you showed me in the previous attachment but I'm stuck on the second row xPath. Bonus, how do I include an apostrophe in my xml file. Thanks so much!

My expression box on insert the second repeating table is telling me it doesn't point to a valid field or group... here's my xPath. GetDOM("test")/execution/subpara/subunit[count(current()/preceding-sibling::my:group6) + 1]/Code

Your XPath is missing xdXDocument: before GetDOM. What node were you trying to use that expression in a rule on? Group4? Group 4 doesn't repeat, so we wouldn't use preceding-sibling here.

I was trying to use this particular xpath in the expression box in group 6 and in field 3 group 6 of the attachment in the previous post. Thanks!

I changed the group 4 to group 6 but it still doesn't work.

I think since you only want to set field3 in certain cases (this is 8.a, 8.b, etc) you will have to use a rule rather than a default value. Also, subunit code is not capitalized.

Did you try what I pasted on the rule on group6 that set's field3's value?

Code is not capitalized in your test data source when under subunit. That is why I said it is not capitalized. XPath is case sensitive.

You can set field3 to a value from an XML file.
