I see, I will have to be explicit in my instructions for the form.  I thought about adding a dialog msg box so when user gets to h they know maybe not to insert a new row but it would probably be overlooked causing frustration anyways.

Here is one more option - include all 8 rows by default. You'll need to preview the form to see this change that I made. Default values are under Form Data on the Data tab in the ribbon.

No - it should be in the InfoPath Ribbon.

Yes, go under Tools > Default Data (I think that's where it is...)

okay, it's tools, default values. Did you just check the boxes to turn on the default values?  I like it.

On repeating items, when you select the item, there is a little drop down menu. :)

I'm trying to replicate your formulas however, I don't know which expression you are using to get /Name or /Code in the formulas below. Also not sure what you did on the last formula to get /../../

If I include the eight rows by default, can I still add optional repeating sections below?  I tried in the attached however the first instance is the only one that provides the option to insert and the other that default all have included the first instance of option insert.  These paragraphs may not be populated all of the time so I'm trying to only allow the user to insert item if needed.  Thanks.

Sorry, I'm sort of confused. Can you show me what you are trying to achieve? Like a screenshot or a word doc or something? The XPath question above, I just manually write these - I don't use the field picker in the formula editor.

Certainly, When using the code to automatically display the paragraph headers, when I add an optional section and a repeating section beneath each paragraph the first one is hidden yet all of the other paragraphs the option is not hidden.  I want the optional paragraphs to stay hidden unless I insert it.  I think I can just add them separately, it's just a lot of additional work to add 3 optional sections for 11 paragraphs unless you have a solution.  Thanks!

Thanks - I understand now. You need to deselect the group you don't want included by default in each of the instances of "group3" in the Default Data settings.

Hi Hilary, I'm trying to expand on this control a little. When I insert my rows down to letter h, at letter h when I add subparagraphs 1,2,3, I need to set default values but not until I get to h. Do you have something for that? Thanks.
