    Preventing duplicate submission

    Hi,

I'm brand new to InfoPath so bear with me. I've setup a form linked to an Access database - seems to work fine so far. My endgame is to have about 100 users or so submit requests into this database via the infopath form, however duplicate submission could be a problem. Is there a way I can throw a validation error (or the like) when the Submit button is clicked if the form detects that the text in the Account Number field already exists in the database?

    Hi Sephaerius,

I haven't done any InfoPath-Access work yet but I would suggest querying Access with the Account Number first. If the data connection returns data (number of rows > 0), then you could halt the submit process and display an error message like "The Account Number already exists. Please enter a different Account Number". Otherwise (if number of rows = 0), continue with the submit logic. I hope this makes sense.
