    Rich Text box validation issue

    Hey all,

I have a Rich text box on my form that I wish to make it required if a specific status has been selected by a drop down list box.

    Originally I had

IF  Overall Status is equal to "1" or "2" then make the text box required.  I have another formatting condition that IF the status is "3" to disable the box.

So that works, however once I add some text to that box, it still won't let me submit the form, saying that field is a required field.

    Ideas?

    Thanks, Brett

If you are using validation for the required field, you will want to add an "AND" rule.

    Ex:
    Condition
OverallStatus is equal to 1 AND
    RichTextBox is blank OR
OverallStatus is equal to 2 AND
    RichTextBox is blank

    Screentip
Please fill out this field. (This can say whatever you want it to say)

Without the "is blank", the validation will always require that you fill out the field since you are only checking to see that OverallStatus equals 1 or 2.
The "is blank" makes the field required until you type something into the field.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick answer, it makes perfect sense that I'd need to put in that "is the textbox blank" validation.  I should have caught that, but sometimes the easy things slip past.
