    Error message when opening form

Hi all i am now getting this error when people open my form "An error occurred in the form's rules or code. The number of rule actions or the number of calls to the OnAfterChange event for a single update in the data exceeded the maximum limit.

The rules or code may be causing an infinite loop. To prevent this, ensure that the rule action or event handler does not update the data which causes the same rule action or event handler to execute"

You click okay and the form opens and seems to work fine...I haven't change much just changed names on a drop down...How can I pinpoint where this is occurring so I can change it?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions--I have a talent for messing up the simplest thing.

    Hi,

This error usually occurs if there are rules in a field that keep changing the value of itself, thus causing an infinite loop until it reaches the maximum limit. Can you attach your form here so I can take a quick look?

    Thanks!

The only thing I can think of that I added recently is that there is a due date field which is today's date plus 1 could that be my problem there?

Are there rules on that due date field that fire when it changes?

Re: Error message when opening form

Yes the rule I have set up for that is to take today's date add 1 day--this is populated into 2 area's one being a field that funnels into a Access Database, and another that populates a field in the subject of the email when the form is submitted.  Basically it is generating a project due date.

The form is a project request for a large uniform company we have several division school uniform and business uniform.  so there are several views depending on what division is requesting they are ordering product and I am having the form automatically determining the due date.   I only have a few fields populate access since that is where people try to track their time to do the project (so due date, task, person requesting) the other stuff doesn't need to be captured.

Hope this helps--I am sure I am making something that should be rather simple rather complex as that is my nature.

Thanks so much for your help!!!!!

I may not have been clear. Where is the rule that sets the Due Date field? Does the Due Date field itself have any rules on it?

Okay - so when due date changes it sets request date? What sets due date to today + 1? What rules are on request date? I'm trying to help you figure out where your loop is.

Sorry I don't think I am clear---when the request date is set (defaulted to today's date) it changes the due date to that day +1 (so in 99% of cases it will be set for tomorrow) so those are tied together since I wasn't aware of another way to do it.  The request date itself has no rules attached and I have it set as a default of today.

I am sorry the thing is soo huge I can't attach it here.

Okay I took out most of my Views to get this small enough to fit as a attachment---But I think it should give you a general idea of what I am trying to do---Again I may be making this way more complicated than it really needs to be!

Thanks for your help and your patience!

I will take any suggestions to make this beast better!!!
