Unique display name option not working in DDL

I have an interesting problem that occurs when I am accessing a SP list through a drop down list.  The SP list has 2 fields "File Name" and "File Nbr".  The File Name would be the same for mulitple records but the File Nbr would be different.

    Example:  File Name    File Nbr

                    14-MCE          01

                     14-MCE         02

                     15-RPT           01

                      15-RPT          02

When I put together a data connection in Infopath and assign it to a DDL to display the File Name with "Show only uniques display names" checked, the form displays 4 records instead of 2 record, The problem in compounded and more confusiong when I created a second form using the same connection and fields and I get the unique File Name being display and only see 2 entries which is what I am after.  The first form does have several other data connections while the 2nd form only has the one connection for the list.  The connection and the DDL data fields are the same.

What would be causing one form to work properly and the other to display all the records?

Are you using the File Name as the Value in the properties for both drop downs?

Soon after I submitted this questions I found the problem.  The form contained 2 views that are similiar except that one view allows updating of fields while the second view is read only.  the read only view had the old query in it which conflicted with the update view.  Once I removed the look up from the read only view, the update view worked properly.  So this was another example of operator error.
