Electronic Signature Picture and PIN Issue

I seem to be experiencing and issue where some of the signed forms, the signature picture does not display.  This only seems to happen when we open a form save it to be edited later then opened again then trying to sign it.  Signature works fine if the form is open and signed immediately.

I have also noticed that while in this state you can enter any PIN you want and it will sign the document under that username whether the PIN is correct or not.  This is a major security issue.

    Hi Jeff,

I replied via email as well.

For your first issue where signatures are not showing up, please check the permissions on the signature images picture library and make sure that everyone has Read access to that.

For the signature issue, this must be two issues:

    1. SharePoint PIN list is not restricted to prevent read from others - the steps should have been documented on this
    2. The rule on the PIN text field needs to correctly set display status so that the signature image only shows if PIN matches what's in the SharePoint image list

Fixing the first issue will enforce permissions since it will only allow the person who has the image to read it.

    Patrick,

Thanks for the response.  All users do have read access to the signature picture library.

As far as the PIN list, we only give the owner of the PIN access.  We do this to keep the users PIN secure, otherwise users can browse to the PIN list and look at other users PINs.  Are you saying we need to give ALL users read access to the entire PIN list?

Resolution for this issue was to not use browser toolbar to Save and use rules instead to make sure that the correct fields are populated via rules in the form (not default values).
