Hi all,
I have a question and wasn't sure how best to categorize it, so placed it in general per the heading of the category. I am hoping to get some thoughts on my issue. I have an infopath form (2010) that I am creating for SharePoint. I have four fields set aside for the assignment of the duties this form is set to handle. What I would like to achieve is to have the form set the value of a specific field based on what was chosen in another field. So, for example, I have a field named "Primary" and based on who the user chooses in that field, I would ilke the "Primary Secretary" field to auto-populate with the info of that users secretary. I am not incredibly well versed in InfoPath, but I did figure out I could set up rules for the Primary field to achieve what I wanted. My questions are:
1. Is that the best method to achieve what I desire? There are 29 different possibilities for the "Primary" field and I wasn't sure that this is the best way to handle this. Does the evaluation of 29 rules significant impact performance for the end user?
2. How cumbersome (and what considerations would need to be made) to make a Changed Event code fire everytime one of those fields is changed? I assume that would be speedier? I've done macro's for word docs, some C++, but am far from an expert coder. What requirements need to be met for a form to have code on it in a domain environment?
3. Is there some solution I am missing here, that doesn't require custom coding or adding 129 different rules to my form over those four fields?
Sorry for these noobish questions and I would be greatly appreciative of any and all help that you may be able to provide on this. Thank you in advance!
