Is it possible to make a check box control show an "X" inside the box instead of a check mark when clicked?

Here is what I am trying to do:

I have a 6  checkbox controls. On 1 of the 6 checkboxes I want it to switch to another view if true().  Since a checkbox control can't switch to another view (at least not for me in IP 2007), I am using a square flat button that will change to a button with an X inside. I can make all my checkboxes behave like buttons, but I don't want to re-create the wheel for all 6 of them....:)

Maybe there is a better way to do this and if so I am open to ideas? But if I can make the checkbox turn to an "X" when true(), then I'm golden! Can it be done?

Well I came up with a fast and dirty solution:

I created a tiny square flat button control labeled "X" (styled like the checkbox).  Then set a condition to change button font color to the background color of the button (so you can't see the "X"). If real checkbox control = false, change font color of button control.  When button is clicked,  real checkbox is set to true, button hides and the checked checkbox appears (and then for form Switches to another view)! lol. Slick.
