    How can I apply a rule to clear a field's value?

    I need to delete the contents of a field when particular selections are made.  I was attempting to create a rule which lists the conditions then have the action be to set a field's value.  I want the field to be blank and I can't see how to do this.

     For the rule, set the field's value and just don't fill anything in for the third box.

    Thanks.  However I am getting this error message when I try to complete in Preview

    An error occurred in the form's rules or code. The number of rule actions or the number of calls to the OnAfterChange event for a single update in the data exceeded the maximum limit.

    The rules or code may be causing an infinite loop. To prevent this, ensure that the rule action or event handler does not update the data which causes the same rule action or event handler to execute.

    Did you set the rule on the same field you are setting to blank? You'll want to set the rule on some other field, or add a condition that the field is not equal to blank to prevent the loop.

    Hi Hilary, I am also setting a rule to clear a drop down list's value or make i's value as blank. Here is what I want to realize: When the Request Type is "Push out" and the Impact Revenue USD is 25,000, the Finance Decision value becomes blank (because I want the approver to modify it later). I have set up the rules as attached picture and attached infopath file. However, the rule "If Push out3" did not work. For example, keeping Request Type as "Push out", when I changed the Impact Revenue USD value from 0.00 to 26,000, the Finance Decision value did not becomes blank, it is still "Not Applicable". Do you know what is wrong with my rules? Thank you!

    Attached is a picture showing the If Push out3 rule. It's in the "Edit Item-1" view.
