When saving a submitted form it tries to save as Form1

    sharepoint 2010 forms library.

I have a form that, when opened, is submitted straight away so that it gets a unique voucher number.

So if VoucherNumber is blank it gets a voucherNumber and is submitted - form left open
If voucherNumber is not blank the form is submitted - form left open
The behaviour is then to leave the form open after submitted.

So now that it is submitted (confirmed by looking in the library) the user continues to edit the form.
When they have completed filling out the form they click save and IP asks them where they want to save "Form1" to?
I don't understand how the connection between the submitted form and the (still open) form is being broken?

    Hi Jay,

How IP works - when you submit the form - it saves the form to the library mentioned by you in data connections.

When you save - it asks you to save the form, in any library within the site.

So if your requirement is to keep the form open, give user a single storage option and best is submit.

so form loads - a submit happens, then user fill ou the form - ask user to do a submit again, that ways it will save a single item and not 2 items.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

But if I open an existing form (in the library) I am able to make changes and click save. This updates the original form and does not ask me where to save form1

Why do I have to close and re-open the form to get this same behaviour.
The currently open form has been submitted and is visible in the library. The only difference between this current form and others in the same library is that this one has not been closed since the submit
