Updating existing forms with new data values

    Hi,

I updated my InfoPath form with a new field and added a drop-down control and then populated the drop-down control with manual entries. I set the default value on the drop-down control to 'Not started'. When I published my updated form template (including promoting the new field to my SharePoint form library) there were no values present against my existing forms in the promoted column. However, if I opened an existing form I could see the newly added field and default value of 'Not started' in the actual field, but it did not show in my promoted column. If I opened and resaved an existing form, or created a new form, then values were successfully saved and seen in the promoted SharePoint column. When running workflows against existing forms, I'd run into an issue around null values - again because those values were being seen as populated on the existing forms - opening and resaving the form also resolved workflow issues. I saw a similar issue in this post - http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/17185/59870.aspx - and the relink and explorer view option did not fix the issue. Is there anything else you can suggest to have the value update in the promoted column on existing forms?

    Thanks.

    Hi Tonkah,

Those previous forms don't have the field in them. You'll need to open and resubmit. If you have too many forms to do that, you could use Qdabra's Document Deployer tool to map your forms from one XML to another (in other words, to add the new value). Here's a link: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/document_deployer/entry58727.aspx

    Best of luck!
