How to re-enable a previously disabled control via conditional formatting?

How do I re-enable a previosuly disabled control via conditional formating?

I disabled a control by using conditional formatting.  If a specific X field is filled and a check box is checked, disable the X field.  This works to lock the field but how do I unlock it if I want to make modifications?  I tried using a third field that "set the field value=FALSE" but then I cannot submit the form as I get a dashed red box around the checkbox.

All I want to do is to lock certain fields when a form is submitted but allow for a second revision of the form to be created by selecting a "Rev2" checkbox.

Well - I mean - if having a field filled and a checkbox checked hides the control, clearing the field or unchecking the checkbox should unhide it. If you right click the checkbox and look at the properties, what are the cleared and checked values? It seems like setting that field to false should do it - usually checkboxes are bound to Booleans, but you may have something set up differently.

Thanks Hilary.  Let me explain what I am trying to do and you can advise accordingly...

Once a form has been submitted, I want it locked until a condition is met, i.e. the work requested has been performed and -only- the user who has performed the work is then able to re-enable the locked fields.  Can I do this without having to look up a user through a sharepoint user list?  There will be three users who have the ability to reopen a form.

Well - is this a filler form or a browser form? If filler, use user roles (easiest if you can put your users in an AD group so you don't have to change the form logic if the users change) - but you can also base conditional formatting off the userName() function if you have to for a browser form.

    Hi Hilary,

Thanks for your reply.  What is an AD group?  I am using filler 2003 because some of my users have not been updated yet.

I am submitting the form into a sharepoint library.  I believe I cannot link to it with 2003.  Is there anything else I can do?  Forgive my lack of knowledge with Infopath.
