Repeating Table only displays first row

This is my first endeavor with InfoPath / SharePoint (2010). I’m trying to keep it simple so there is no code, no rules.

I created an InfoPath 2010 library form.

    I added a repeating table.

I published it to a form library.

    The problem …

I preview this form in InfoPath and insert rows in the repeating table and submit it.

I go to the SharePoint 2010 site and view what was created and ALL the rows are there.

I click on the Add document link in the library to create this same form. I insert rows in the repeating table and submit it.

I open this newly created form and only the FIRST row shows up. The other rows show up blank. Please someone help me!

Weird. From SharePoint, you can download a filled out form (from the menu, send to - download a copy). Download the form (XML file) you created when you used Add document. Then you can look at the data in a text editor, like Notepad, and verify that the repeating data is, indeed in the XML. That will help diagnose the issue. You can attach the XML to a reply (under options) if you'd like me to take a quick look.

I opened them in Notepad (thanks for the tip) to see what was really there. I still can't figure out why the repeating table doesn't save rows 2,+ when filled in using "Add document" but has no problem saving 2,+ when filled in using InfoPath and submitted to SharePoint.

I combined these 2 files into one so I could let you see both (sorry couldn't figure out how to add more than one file). I input the exact data into the repeating table. But one file was created from Infopath 2010 and the other by using Add Document while in SharePoint 2010. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to keep it simple since I'm new to all this and this is a very unexpected result. Thanks in advance.

So - when you add the rows when opening from SharePoint, are you entering data in them? I can see the rows are there, but no data. Is their any conditional formatting on the table to not show blank rows? Attach a copy of your template to a reply, I'd like to take a look at it. :)

There isn't any conditional formatting. I added the same data to both forms. My original form had alot more to it but I decided to start from scratch when I noticed the problem. So, this is just a Library form with a repeating table added, a text field and a data connection to submit it to the SharePoint Library...very minimal.  I hope you can help. I didn't plan on this being the part I would scratch my head about and say ..huh? I hope I attached the file you asked for.   Thanks.

Yup, you attached what I wanted. So, I published your form to a library of mine, set the submit to submit to my library. I just tested it, and it works as anticipated. I open a new form from the library, I enter a few rows, enter data into all of them - submit and the data is in the XML and displayed when I re-open the form.

I do see that with your form you won't be overwriting existing XML and that you are using "now()" in the title, so you should be creating a new XML each time you submit. Maybe try deleting all the files in your test library and open from SharePoint again - that way when you submit there will be only one file in the library, in case of confusion....

I'm also wondering if maybe there is a problem with InfoPath Forms Services on your server, since the issue doesn't reproduce on my server - do you have a SharePoint Admin who could check the log files & see if anything is happening there?

Maybe I should mention that SharePoint 2010 was just recently setup and I am the first to do ANYTHING on it.  Not sure if that is important or not. Previous development was done on 2007 by someone else.

Well, again - your template works correctly on my server, which means that the template is likely not the issue.

Re: Repeating Table only displays first row

I logged on with the ADMIN Id and did "Add document" and the repeating table worked as expected and saved all the rows. I tried to compare the permissions but I'm not seeing the problem.

Thank you for narrowing down the problem to the InfoPath forms service and not my form. I consulted with the other developer and since we are the "SharePoint Admin" I will continue to try and figure out what the problem is...any other suggestions are welcomed.
