    Newbie Searching for Answers

What’s lower than a newbie? I’m discovering things by sheer luck rather than by logic. I’ve created a simple form for users to fill out and submit as an attached document.  The blank doc is stored on the pc hard drive, (not a web form) and for now not linked to any data base.  My colleagues are fearful of change so I need to take baby steps.  I will enter email addresses etc. into the code or path manually. I’m trying to automate as much of the form as possible so if a function is not possible it’s not the end of the world.  I have found some threads in these forums but like I said ‘serious newbie.’ (I understand the concept  VBA code etc. no idea how to write it) I’m trying to squeeze as much free help before paying for help; yeah I’m cheap like that.  Please see the document attached, the questions will make so much more sense.  1)      The Venue Manager’s name.  I would like this to fill automatically with the name of the current USER not author. Help?  2)      Is there a simple time picker? Just need a clock or something. Found a post don’t understand it. Not important though. 3)      Regarding the table in green. ·         If the answer to the main question is NO then only should the rest of the table appear. Also not important. ·         If the answer for individual questions is selected NO then the comments section MUST be filled out for that answer. Would be cool if this only appears when NO is selected.  ·         If the main question is answered NO; “[email protected]” needs to be cc’d when submitting the form.  Is there a way to only submit just a table not the entire document? ·         I will be using the exact format for two other tables, not yet completed, with exactly the same functions but will be submitting to a different email address as the question will be for a different department. So I need to be able to change the email address either in the code or some other way. Not linked to a data base yet.  4)      I’m looking for a simple “Clear Form / Reset Form” button.  Found the post didn’t quite understand it.  Help? 5)      Then just a simple submit button to “[email protected]” , again I need to be able to edit the email address in the code if need be.  Also remember I might need to cc people depending if certain criteria are met with the other questions. I think I can get the form to auto close, not save and submit…  but guidance would be appreciated.  6)      I would like to add a space where additional people can be cc’d.  I want to enter these manually (like a text box) but the document needs to submit to them as well.   Like I mentioned the forms functions ok, just need to tweak, so if none of these questions are possible it’s not the end of my world, just means more manual inputs. Any help or directions to links would be greatly appreciated. If you feeling generous, just make the changes and send the form back, Luke.O’[email protected]  but I won’t push my luck like that.     Many ThanksL

Wow. That's a great big wall o' text there.

    1. There is a function of userName() - you could set a form load rule that sets VenueManager to userName() on open if the field is blank (since you won't want that to get reset with another name every time the form is opened)
    2. No, there is no time picker
    3. Put your table inside a section and add conditional formatting to the section. Looks like your option button for No has a value of 2 - so hide the section if LightingRigYesNo is equal to 2.
    4. You can't really submit just a part of the form - but we generally use sections and conditional formatting to mimic that - here's a post that might help.
    5. When you set up an email connection, you can use a formula (the fx) button to indicate a field with the email address. So, have a field for email to, and populate with the correct email address via rules. Then add a rule to close the form.
    6. See 5 above for your CC question - if you use a single field and have your users enter email addresses separated by semi-colons, you'd have it pretty easy. Or, you can give them a repeating field - see this post for ideas on working with a double eval.

    Hope this helps!
