Odd behaviour in display of Rich Text Field - different formatting results if field marked read-only.

Within Infopath I am having formatting issues where entered text appears differently in a Rich Text Field between a field that is marked read/write and one that is marked read only.

This seems to only impact lists (all numbered lists and bulleted lists) and does NOT appear to impact paragraph text.

The desired result is to have text entered within a Rich Text field display the same regardless if the field is an input field or marked read-only.  Text is being manually formatted using a soft-return to provide extra space for improved readability.

    To illustrate the observed behaivour:

Text entered within Rich Text Field (Sample)

The following text is manually formatted using soft returns (shift - return)

    1. Line of text one. <shift-return>

    2. Line of text two. <shift-return>

    3. Line of text three. <shift-return>

Viewing Results (Rich Text Field Read/Write)

When file is opened and viewed the data within the field appears as expected with spacing.  (This is the Rich Text field marked read/write)

    1. Line of text one.

    2. Line of text two.

    3. Line of text three.

Viewing Results (Rich Text Field Read-Only)

When the same rich text field is set as READ-ONLY the soft returns seem to disappear and the text is crammed together.

    1. Line of text one.
    2. Line of text two.
    3. Line of text three.

Note: The data in the field appears to retain the correct formatting because it displays correctly when the field is set for read-write, however it displays incorrectly when the field is marked read-only

    Additional Findings

If a numbered list is pasted in from Microsoft Word (with extra line spacing manually entered using shift-return within Word) the list displays correctly with the soft returns in the same rich text field regardless if it is marked read/write or read-only.

Any thoughts on why soft returns are acting wonky within a rich text field when the field is marked read only?

Hi - I'm not seeing this in a form I've just tried in IP 2010. What version of IP are you using? Can you provide a sample form where you see this? You can attach a file under the Options tab...

    Also using IP2010

I set up a simple example.  Use the button to swap between a view with the rich text field read/write and the rich text field marked read/only.

As soon as you use shift-return on any form of list (bulleted, numbered, etc) to add extra spaces between lines the behaviour is evident.

Image illustrating the difference observed between the two views attached.  This was generated with a preview, but the exact same behaviour is observed in a published form.

Anyone with any thoughts or comments on this?
