Approval Task form customization (Using OOTB functionality)

Hi i am having an Infopath form to submit a role request. Users are able to submit multiple roles (select through listbox). For each role, a different approver is configured and all data stored in a separate list. So for each request, we are getting roles and approvers in calculated columns (like Role1; Role2; Role3; Role4; and Approver1; Approver2; Approver3; Approver4;) on request form itself. Workflow is routing the request to each approver for approval.

Problem comes here, as roles requested list (Role1; Role2; Role3; Role4; etc) is available to each approver, whether only few roles (Role2; Role4) are relevant to that approver.

No idea how to filter the roles value to show only the relevant roles to each approver on task form. Attached is the approval screen. Please help.

    Hi Sachin,

Sorry for the delay in responding but you posted to general forum feedback and we weren't monitoring that forum since it's very rarely posted to.

I'm not sure I totally understand your scenario, but you can filter out roles using conditional filtering in InfoPath. Assuming you are loading the user profile information in the form, you need to check to see if the user profile service returns the role information. If it does, you're set. If not (as I suspect) then you will have to load the user's role information from somewhere. This could be a secondary data connection - list or XML file - that is maintained separately from the User Profile Service. Or, you could install Qdabra's Active Directory Web service and query it for the role information and display it dynamically. But, I'd check User Profile service first and see if it provides role information.

    Good luck,

    Patrick
