Infopath as front end for SQL Server

    Hi all!

I would like to ask the experts out there if it is ok to use infopath as a front end client for SQL Server? Currently, I have a form which uses SOAP endpoints to connect to SQL Server (not the direct connection to SQL Server database, because I had a hard time figuring out how I can create a form that could comply to what my boss wants):P however, we have been ok for now, however we need to make the form fully trusted and create certificates for the infopath filler to be filled out using other computers connected to the network.

The form is an InfoPath filler and is not browser enabled. I would like to ask if is it ok with the current form or is it better if we connect to sql database directly?

    Thanks in advance,

    Best Regards,

SOAP endpoints are definitely preferable to connecting to the database directly.  To go a step further, we've developed a generic webservice called DBXL for querying and writing to SQL Server databases.

There should definitely be a way to use the webservice without making the form full trust.  Have you determined a reason why you've had to make it full trust?
