I have not written even one InfoPath form, but this is what I want to do and am wondering if InfoPath will help me with this.
I have a calendar list, and I want to take a 1 week slice of the calendar and display it in my SP page. The problem with the SharePoint calendar view is the weekly view displays each hour/half hour time slot. I don't want that. I just want each event to display in a cell for each day of the week.
So I was thinking I could write an Infopath form that would connect to the list and I could display the data in text boxes. But I'm not really finding how to display the multiple items and I am not finding a way to create a query or filter to only get the current week. I was able to display the first calendar item, but that's all. I also don't know if I can have the form in a web part or something so it is automatically displayed when the user accesses the site. I don't want the user to enter any information or click any buttons or anything like that.
My other approach is to use the Client Object Module and ECMAScript to extract the calendar entries and use JavaScript to write out an HTML table. That should work and be relatively straightforward, but I wanted to see if this InfoPath method would work better.
Thanks for any help I can get.
