    One too many with BCS

I All New to infopath and sharepoints but have people inside who know SP a lot.

I need to setup into sharepoints a form that will let salesprepare quotation to customer using sharepoints forms. If then accepted the quotation will be exported to a SQL db as an invoice record (both header and detail SQL).

I have a form/list that is setup in SP with a BCS connection to a SQl database that contains all my selling items.

Can I have on the form, a repeating section that will let the sales peoples select an item from a list (BCS connection), populate the repeating section (with name number and price). Then I would make a total of the prices in order to prepare the quotation to the customer. Of course I also have a bunch of info about the customer on the form.

Is it possible? How does SP handle the one too many relations for the repeating field? Is it save in the same SP list? or do I have to create a separate list?

    thanks in advance

I think you'll need two lists - in general, for one to many with SharePoint lists, you have a parent list and a child list - that is, if you are using SharePoint List forms - which it sounds like is what you are planning.

InfoPath does have external item pickers that are supposed to work with BCS - but I'm not sure if those are available in SharePoint List forms.

You may just want to use an InfoPath form for this that submits to a form library - with promoted properties, you can merge a repeating field so you get a delimited list - it all depends, I think on what you want do with the data after the form is filled out.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the answer

I just need to make sure I was clear enough (english is not my usual language :-) )

Here is the setup i have/need

In a nutshell Prepare a quote base on a SQL item database. (so basically like an invoice)

    _________________________________

A list in SP with the basic info for the customer (new customer so no other list involve here)

A SQL DB link via a BCS that contain my item (the SQL is link to my accounting system) that will populate my form with name, number and pricing (using an external picker??)

One customer can have multiple contacts that need to be input in the form (can't tell in advance how many)

The final list in SP should contains: Customer info, all customer contacts, all item entered

So one form created in Sp with One customer, multiple contacts, multiple item (Populate from the bcs)

The SP list will then be use to export to 2 of our SQL databases.

Is this kind of form even available in SP? or am, i better to use something else?
