Saving Files to Sharepoint Document Library

I am currently using the SaveToSharePoint command to save docs to a specific document library. I have been using folders, and pointing the command to the correct location based on the form that is being used. However, I really need to drop the folders and use columns in the sharepoint document library. I'd like to set the columns in the doc library to values from the form that is using the SaveToSharePoint command. I have tried to think of a way using a workflow, but can't figure out how to get the relevant info to the doc library. I thought about also using the SubmitToSharePoint command, (assuming it will work in a document library?), but can't see how to have it find the specific record in the document library that the SaveToSharePoint just created. Any ideas? (sorry for how convoluted this is, I'm almost losing myself when I reread it!)

There is another thread here on sort of the same issue.

We don't have any built in functionality for this. It seems to me it would be possible to use an owssvr.dll connection to get the ID for the item in the document library, then use SubmitToSharePointList to basically submit the metadata (although you'd need to manually create the mapping, since the mapping tool doesn't currently let you select a library - or, you know, I could change that in the tool and get you a new build...)

Another option could be to just use list items with attachments instead - you can have the same qRulesLink / qRulesFilename functionality with that - here's a blog post on the 4.2 version.

Hi Hilary.  I did see that post this morning, and it appears to be very similar to my problem.  I've tried to take a different approach for right now, but I'm not sold on that yet.  The list attachment isn't too bad, but a few more clicks to access the file then I'd like.  You kind of lost me on the other explanation, but thats OK.....I'll have to study it a bit more if I come back to this option.  I appreciate your answer and really do love the software.  Its taken our forms to a whole new level!  Thanks.
