Connect to Sharepoint List AFTER form creation

    Hello,everyone:

I created a form then decided I wanted the data to be submitted to a Sharepoint list. I created the Submit data connection, but apparently there is something else you need to do. When I go to Data Source in the task pane I see "Main" and it's grayed out. How do I attach it to the Sharepoint list?

    THanks!

One more piece of information. I created the form locally. I just tried to 'Publish' it to a Sharepoint Forms library and added a column for each data element. I modified my Submit data connection to go to that form library. Now when I submit nothing is added to that form library. My data source still says "Main". Now I'm really confused.

    Hi Deb,

Sorry for the delay. Do you prefer it to be a Sharepoint list or do you want it to be a form library?

    Thanks for the reply, Stephanie.

I guess I'm a little confused. When you "publish" a form, it's always published to a forms library. Since that library could be made to behave the same as any other list, I can't see when you would use a list and not a forms library?

Anyway, since this is only my third form I had a lapse of memory and forgot about the "publish" step. I went about first creating all the fields in the form. Then when I got to the Submit step and set it up to publish to a forms library, the data elements are bound to "Main" and the Sharepoint forms library is not a selectable data source.

Also, just a quick clarification on an observation. Do Rules always get executed first by default over code?

    Thanks!

    Hi Deb,

Can you tell me what do you mean by "When I go to Data Source in the task pane I see "Main" and it's grayed out." Do you mean when you are in Design? Secondly, when you created your data connection for your form (in Data Connection Wizard) did you specify your form library name?
