InfoPath 2007 - Percent sign and a period

I have an InfoPath 2007 form published to a MOSS 2007 form library.  Every time a user types "%." (percent and period) in a rich text field, they get an error message stating:

"InfoPath cannot save the form. The specified location is invalid, not available, or you do not have the correct permissions. Check the spelling of the file name and verify that the location is correct.".

If you put a space between the percent sign and the period, it saves.  Remove that space, you get the error message again.
Anyone know what's happening?  And what I can do to fix this within the form?
Also forgot to mention that none of the Rich Text fields are used in the naming of the form.

That's interesting.  Perhaps its a special character that InfoPath has a hard time accepting.  Does your form submit or are you saving instead?  If its the former, are you specifying the save name for the user?

If its a common occurence, you could create some data validation to warn the user if there is that special character combo in the rich text.  Otherwise, not sure if there is another workaround that could help.

It's funny that you mention the data validation, because that's exactly what I did after I posted this last night!  Great minds and all that! ;)

And yes, it submits.  I want consistent naming conventions for the forms in the library, so one of the rules in the submit button is to name it based on information the user enters into 2 plain text fields - Account Name and Account Number.  The Rich Text fields are not used in the naming of the form.  So what do you think?

Sounds like just an odd occurence and perhaps even a product bug.  If the data validation piece works for you at least you have a workaround for the problem.  But unfortunately that's all I can think of at the moment.  Good luck!

I've narrowed down when this happens, but still don't know why or how to prevent it from happening (besides data validation and a screen tip/message).  It only happens on Rich Text fields that have been promoted to the SharePoint library, and when either of these two variations are typed into that promoted field and attempted to save:

    1.  when it contains:  percent period space space.
    %.<Space><Space>

    2.  when it contains:  percent space space
    %<Space><Space>

Would love for another user to try it on their end to see if it's just an issue with our SharePoint and/or InfoPath setup.

    1. Create a form with just 2 Rich Text fields.
    2. When publishing to the library, only promote 1 of the fields.
    3. Then test by opening a new form and saving to the library, doesn't matter what you name it.  Can even use default naming "Form1".
    4. In the promoted field, try typing "test %.  Test" and Save.  This is where I'm getting the error message.  When I remove 1 or both of the spaces after the period, it allows me to save.
    5. When I type the same "test %.  Test" in the field that is not promoted, it allows me to save with no problem.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Is this a browser form? I just tried this with a filler form w/out issue - I'm using IP 2013, but saved the template as IP 2007....
