How to update fields based on an XSD file in an existing form?

    Hi,

I have an existing form with a group of fields was imported from an XSD file. Now the XSD has changed.

Is there any way to update the group of fields to match the new XSD?

I tried in desperation to delete the entire group and reimporting the new XSD, but then InfoPath tells me the XSD already exists and asks if I want to use the old definitions. If I say no, the new XSD is not imported. If I say yes, it still uses the old definition!? On top of that I have to rebind every single field in the form..

I can't be the first to have imported an XSD schema and needing to update it.

I read in some other posts, that in 2007 version you could same the form "as files" and then manipulate the XSD by hand. However this option does not exist in 2010. i know the .xsn is just a .zip file, and I can unzip it, but for some reason i can't just .zip it back with my changes. If I do the file won't be recognized as an InfoPtah form template.

Any help/clues will be greatly appreciated :-)

    Hi,

May be what you meant to say is "Save the form as files"? If so, there is an option in InfoPath 2010 where you can export source files. Go to File > Publish > Export Source Files.

Thanks, I finally found it :-)

I changed the min/max occurrence and nillable properties on some of the fields directly in the XSD file, and I finally got the result i was after when I republished the form :-)

But it only works for new forms!?

If I open a previously created form with the new template, the fields are still "mandatory"??

I tried clareing the cache on the localmachine (Infopath /cache clearall), but that did not help...

Does anybody know if and where infopath gets these pervious values from? It must be part of the manifest.xml or some other file in the .xsn template?
