    Count the number of instances

    Hi!

    Need some help here.

I have 3 check box in my infopath form named: (red, yellow, blue). i need to total up the number of EACH check box item and generate a auto total number.

For example, when red is checked for the first time, a auto number will be generated at the text box below : total red: 1. Submit it to sharepoint doc library. when a new form is created again and if red is checked again it will be total red: 2. it adds on and on +1. total the number of red check box.

same goes for blue n yellow.

I've tried using count(redfield) +1 and also tried creating a recieve data connection for "redfield". It kinda works but then again, it adds on to yellow and blue as well. for example if red is 3 blue is 1, it didnt display that, instead it shows red is 3 blue is 4.

the auto number are displayed in 3 different text box meaning one of each text box is designated to that check box.

Is there any other easier way to do it? Pls help...

Re: Count the number of instances

Are these textboxes within a repeating table or section? If so, then, for every row in the repeating table, there is a checkbox for each of the three colors, and at the end you want to count the number of instances for each color, for all the rows in the table?

Re: Count the number of instances

currently its not in any section or repeating table. basically what i need is for example number 1-2000 is designated for color RED while 2001-3000 designated for BLUE and 3001-4000 for Yellow.

I've hide the textbox, only when red is check the textbox will be shown with the number. i've set a condition for the "redtextbox", 'redcheckbox' is not equal to true than hide this control.

the numbers should keep adding on. (when red is check redtextbox +1 and the number range between 1 to 2000)

Hope anyone is able to give some advice.
