    Flash/Refresh of 'people picker' fields

    Hello,

I have a very odd issue I'm trying to figure out.  I'm using SharePoint 2010/Infopath 2010.  I've created a form with several different views (one view is a submission page, the others are for admin purposes).  On one of the admin views I have 4 different 'people picker' fields for different responsibilities.  The odd issue:  I have several fields in this form - from text fields to drop-downs, to radio buttons.  A few of the fields (all drop-down) cause the 4 'people picker' fields to blank out/dissapear/flash (however you want to describe it).  No other fields cause this behavior - and there are several other drop-down fields on the form (in each view) that work without causing the odd behavior.  Some of the drop-downs have just a few choices and then others have several and are look-ups to external data source.  Has anyone else seen this on their forms?  Is there a solution that anyone knows about that would alleviate this?

I know this might not make sense and I apologize if I may not be explaining it clearly.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this annoyance.

    Hi there,

What's likely happening is that other controls are causing postbacks on your form (probably the dropdowns in your case).  Each time a postback occurs the people picker controls to redraw on the screen causing that "flashing" that you see.  The best way around this is to prevent as many postbacks as possible on your form.  If you have set your controls to Always postback try setting it to Only when necessary or Never.  Perhaps you can do filters or queries on a button press instead to make the postback an explicit action.  You can also try splitting up the controls into separate views and that might fix the issue.  Hope this helps!
