Username() not firing when opening existing form

    Hi

I have a button in an Infopath template (it opens in Infopath and not the browser) that I hide using a rule that checks a field for a specific value.

The form is published to a Sharepoint 2007 library.

The field has the standard value username() that gets the username of the person logged on (logged into Sharepoint I guess) and it works fine when I create a new form in the SP library.

However, when I open an existing form in the library (that uses the same template of course) the field is blank and therefore the button is not hidden.

Why is the value in the field blank and/or how can I make the function get triggered?

If my solution dosen't seem like a good one, which one would be better?

I'm basicly trying to hide a button from a specific set of users.

Re: Username() not firing when opening existing form

I found the answer: I should use the username() function in a rule instead to make it fire when existing forms are opened :-)
