Using IP 2007.

I would like to hide certain sections based on users role.  I created a role, "MyRole" with 3 users in it (Tools>User Roles>Add).  Then in the section(s) I want to hide, I  created this condition:

If,  "current user's role" is not equal to "MyRole"

then, Hide section

it doesn't work.  Am I using roles wrong?  Are they only to be used to control opening a particular view? I am not using browser enabled forms.
