    Changing button properties

Is it possible to change the button properties but retain the gradient and curved corners?  When I change the button color or border color, the color goes solid/flat and the rounded corners go square.  Do I have to make my own in PhotoShop and import them as an object?

    Hi Doreen,

What I think you need to do is rather than use a regular button, use a picture button. You don't need Photoshop. =) It's so easy to use PowerPoint to create a picture - insert a shape with rounded corners, add a text that says something like "Submit", and then, in the Format tab, choose a shape style (lots of colors and designs to choose from, you can even make it look like 3D). Right click on the shape and save as picture. Go back to your picture button in InfoPath and configure it to use the image.

    I hope that helps!

    Re: Changing button properties

Thank you Jo-Anne.  I am using IP 2007.  Using PowerPoint is a great idea - too simple!  But...I don't have a picture button in InfoPath unless you mean for me to use the Picture control from the File and Picture section of the controls?  I tried it but in preview mode the button or picture, opens a window allowing the user to select another picture --- not quite what I had in mind!  Am I missing something?

    Hi Doreen,

Sorry I forgot to mention the picture button is available if you are using InfoPath 2010. I'm afraid the only way to add the image to your button is to add it as a resource file and edit through XSL stylesheet.. Sorry, it's been a while since I've been on IP2007 - to export as source files, I think it's File > Export. Once you exported the source files, you have to look for the XSL stylesheet file, manually edit it. Example of adding a background image to button:

    <font size="2"><input style="BORDER: none; BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(ref.JPG); BACKGROUND-POSITION: center; BACKGROUND-REPEAT: no-repeat; WIDTH: 25px; HEIGHT: 25px" class="langFont" title="" value="" type="button" xd:xctname="Button" xd:CtrlId="CTRL1_5" tabIndex="0"/>
