    Pass variable to editifs.aspx

Hi all, I have been struggling to find out how to accomplish something that I could use in many of my projects. I’ll summarize it in a simple scenario in hopes that someone can offer some help. 1.       On a custom SharePoint list InfoPath form, I would like to have two sections, left & right. Navigating on the left section and making a selection would pass a variable to another section on the same InfoPath form view.  For example, I have a list named Support_Tickets that contains the following fields:1.       Title (issue title)2.       Description3.       Resolution On my custom InfoPath form, I would like to set up a list box on the left side of the form that displays all Titles (issue titles), clicking on a Title would pass a variable to a second section on the right that shows an edit item form (custom “editifs.aspx”) of the support ticket.  I have found that I have to create a data connection of read type to the Support Tickets list to accomplish the first list box of the titles of all Support Tickets.  I can click on a Title and set a new fields value; “current_title” to verify that works When I try to filter or populate the second section (custom editifs.aspx) with the details of the selected issue title using “current_title” I can’t make it work. While this example may not seem to be of any significant value, the concept seems to be essential to create interactive forms that allow browsing, filtering and editing list data in one user interface screen. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks,Scott

It sounds like this may all be possible in a single template, in which case it makes "passing" variables quite easy.  You can just create some temp variables in your data source that you can key off of to query your right details section based on what was selected on the left.

If these are indeed separate templates, web parts in SharePoint are useful.  You can pass variables between web parts using part to part connections and then query the second form.
