    Excel to XML question

getting ready to migrate a large amount of data to XML (infopath)  in a sharepoint form library using the XLS to XML tool.   For the File Name Info, the excel column that i will be using has duplicate entries.    I am not sure but how does the XLS to XML handle this?  Will I run into errors?  I asked because the data i am migrating over is relevant the way it is named.

     Thank you

    Hi-

The tool names the xml files based on this setting, so you'll run into issues (overwrites) when the file name already exists in the output location.

Thanks for your response Ernesto.... I really DO need each row of data migrated over and we DON'T want overwrites.   What are my options or what can i do here to capture every row?

Make sure that your Excel spreadsheet has a column that is a 'key', that is, a value that does not repeat. Use this for the xml filename created by the Excel to XML tool and you should be all set. I've seen data sets in the past where the simplest solution was to add a new column to the Excel spreadsheet because there was no column that could work as a key. You could even concatenate various columns to create a unique filename.
