Already sent this to support at Qdabra but I'll try here as well.
I've got an existing xsn in DBXL 2.6 that has documents created against it. I had to add a couple of additional fields to the xsn and needed to go back to the existing documents and supply values for the new fields. I went through the normal process of creating the new fields in IP, adding controls (no required fields, no date validation), publishing via the DAT and then opening the form from (both from the DAT in the IP client and from the SharePoint forms library using forms service). In both cases, the newly created fields were unable to accept data as if they were disabled. A check box control I created was grayed out and also disabled. I only get this problem on forms where DBXL 2.6 is involved. I tried reshredding and that did not solve the problem. I created a test form, published to a SharePoint forms library without using DBXL and was successfully able to create new fields and add data to existing documents so this definitely appears to be DBXL related. All of the fields are available when I create a new document, just not when exiting an existing document created with an earlier version of the xsn.
