InfoPath 2010 Browser-based form postback question.

    Hello All,

I have an InfoPath 2010 via InfoPath Form Services & SharePoint Enterprise 2010 related question. I’ve noticed and am working to correct a reoccurring error that several users have experienced. I am curious if anyone else on this message board has experienced the issue below, and if so, what steps were you able to take to correct it?

I have an InfoPath 2010 form template which was designed to be web-based via SharePoint 2010. It’s essentially an electronic version of our Self-Evaluation process that we require employees to complete annually. I am not using any custom code in this form (as it was not necessary). Only out-of-the-box controls native to InfoPath Designer 2010 were used when designing this form. Mainly the Rich Text Controls. I am trying to determine if this problem is SharePoint/InfoPath related, or browser-based. I’ve only had several users report the issue. So I am not sure.

I have the form submitting to two document libraries. Essentially one is for an employee to submit (save) their in-progress self-evaluation to. A workflow through SharePoint then generates an email with a direct link to the browser based form. The employee can click on this link to access their in-progress self-evaluation, make edits and updates, and then “save” (aka re-submit and overwrite the previous version). The form has a “Submit” button which essentially submits the completed Self-Evaluation to a second document library, which converts it to a PDF and then routes it as an email attachment to the supervisor and HR for archiving.

The challenge I’m experiencing is that several users, when they click on the save button (to resubmit their updated for to the in-progress library), it will not capture their first click of the button. The first time they click on it, even though the form indicates data is being submitted to the server, if they exit the browser and return, their previous work is lost. Essentially they have to click the Save button twice to successfully resubmit their data.

Any thoughts? Questions? Collaboration from InfoPath peers is greatly appreciated! :)
