I have developed a quite indepth Access database application for mineral collectors (you know like "Rocks and Minerals"). I developed it really for a single museum user to catalog their collection. But now have been requested to see if I could do the following:
1 Have a form on my or some other website so that various collectors could post information about a specimen and submit it to the administraor.
2 Be able so that when the form is received by the administrator, say in Outlook 2003 as an attachment, that he could then automatically update the database. The fields in the form to be filled out would have to be added to various tables, such as owner's table, specimen table, locality table, etc. Also, a picture would need to be submitted for positive id of the specimen. The description fields, significance fields, mine locality comments fields are all memo fields.
Or would it be easier to have all info on the form saved to a separate table and the then use dao to go through and update the correct tables.
It was my original idea just to have all the owners fill out a word form and send via email and parse the message with code to extract the data and add to the database. (or just copy and paste), but got reading about infopath, and thought might be a lot easier.
I am new to Infopath but a reasonably good Access programmer.
