How Do You Know You Need InfoPath 2010?

Hi folks, I need some answers from people who are in the know about InfoPath 2010 and Sharepoint 2010.

Basically I need to understand when and how a person would know they needed InfoPath 2010 as opposed to out of the box Sharepoint 2010 lists.

    Thanks!

In short: ShP list forms are great for very simple <20 field data forms. They don't scale and they shouldn't be used in 75% of your business process forms. For those, you'll want to use InfoPath Form Libraries. Both can be displayed in the browser using SharePoint 2010.

So that's it? If you have 21 fields, you need infopath? Is that it? Infopath seems like quite a lot of complication, on top of basic sharepoint lists. Is that really all it does is allow you to have > 20 fields? I get the feeling that infopath is shiny, and enterprisey, so folks want to use it. But I can't find what the business need it serves is.

    Hi John,

als always in life ... it depends on ... I don“t think that you can always make the 'right decision' when to use Infopath and when to use basic SharePoint lists.

But I can recommend the following blog post for a better understanding...
