    Repeating Section

    Hi

I have a dropdown list with four values in it.

On Selection of each value corresponding repetition section will come.

I wanted to display the data entered by the user in all the repetition sections in the same view were my repetition sctions are there in a table format, please suggest possible ways [both Inbox features and Customisation].

    Thnx in advance

Hey, since you also PM'd me on this, I thought I'd paste my reply to your PM here as well:

Hi - my apologies, I'm having trouble understanding your question.

I think you are asking if you can show a repeating table and a repeating section bound to the same repeating group in the data source in a single view in the form? If so, of course. The data and the view are separate in InfoPath -- You can have infinite controls bound to the same node in the data source.

    Hi Hilary,

I will try to explain the entire scenario in detail,

I have a dropdown list with two values lets say "Person","Charity".

If i select "person" in the drop down list i wll get a set of controls which are placed in a repetition section. So using this Repetition section 4 times i entered data for person group.

If i select  "Charity" in the drop down list  i wll get a set of controls which are placed in a repetition section. So using this Repetition section 4 times i entered data for charity group.

All these data i have to show it in a table in the same view with few fields only.

So the table has to have 4+4 total 8 rows of data which is from two different repeteating sections.

Sorry to break it to you -- but that will require code (or could probably be managed with qRules). You won't be able to bind a repeating table to two repeating groups. One work around would be to use the same repeating group whether the user selects "Person" or "Charity" -- but use conditional formatting to not show "Person" information when the user selects "Charity" -- is the user allowed to make multiple selections from the drop down?

    No Hilary ,

User is not allowed to manke multiple sections. But the challenge here is all this data i am binding to the datasource of the Repeating section to show in Repeating table format by draging the Group on to the view from Data Source.

If all the controls are going to be placed in same group then in repeating table all the columns from Person and charity will come i.e

for Person if i have Field1,Field2,Field3 and for Charity if i have Field 4,Field5,Field6, if i place both person and charity fields in same group and add repeating table datasource from design tasks, repeating table will be having Field 1 to Field 6 all the 6 fields as 6 columns but when i am inserting about person i wont be inserting about Charity so Fields 4 to 6 will be empty when i am insertin person, Fields 1 to 3 will be empty when i am inserting Charity.

I wanted to have Fields 1 to3 in one row and Fields 4 to6 in another row so that i can edit them later individulaly.

Perhaps you can attach a sample of what you are doing and that will help me understand your issue. Under the Options tab you can attach a template file.

A sample would really help in understanding exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

I've mocked up 3 variations that 'kind-of' sound like what you are describing.

But I think View 2 in the attached template is what you are actually getting at?

If none of the examples look correct, then I'll wait with Hilary for your own sample.

    Nope Please find attached file.

Along with this i am trying to remove each row in a Repeating Table at the top by placing a Delete buttton in the table.

Is it possible to remove particular row in a repeating table by clicking delete button in the same row? please share if you have a sample.
