Hi - I'm creating a workflow that will send an email to a few people and upon approval, approve the document in the document library in sharepoint 2007. However, when it gets to the approval of the document phase, I get the error : "Error updating list item - Document checked out". I have tried a 1 minute pause before approving the document and wrapping the approval in a check-out/check-in, but to no avail. Can anyone make any suggestions as to why this isn't working or how to make it work? Thanks in advance

I have the exact same problem...for me it's very interesting, all my libraries work perfectly (about 40 of them) except one.  The fix for me was setting the pause to 10 minutes, not one.  Once I did that, I got no more errors on all but one of my libraries.  For some strange and not so wonderful reason, the last one still has the same problem.
