    not a newbie, but feel like an idiot

    I can submit a form using button and datasource. I can create rules to modify and change fields, but i cannot not do this together. can someone please exlain how to create a button submit form that also fires rules on submit.

     I want to click a submit button, And when clicked I want do some other actions. In the submit options ther are only 3 choices and can only select one

    - send form data to a single location

    - perform custom action using rules

    - perform custom action using code

     maybe I need to submit the form using code, but I do not know how. I am using IP 07 in MOSS

    Kind regards,
    Larry

    I think I figured it out. I found the custom code and was able to add a rule, but on second submit I receied an error. to submit my form in vb I used a click evel

    DataConnections("Main submit").Execute()

    Main submit being my data connection name. What I am actually trying to do is append comments like in sharepoint. I have to fields Comments and History. enter comments into comnet field. On submit it concats comments and History. I believe my error is from trying to create a newline (line break) between the concat comments and history.

    any input on how or what I am doing wrong is welcomed.

    Kind regards,
    Larry

    I have solved all my errors, but still cant close the form. I am not user browser form, so i need to close the IP app when submit is clicked. I have found many posts, but none of them seemed to work, maybe I was missing something. I am using vb with a butn click to submit form to SP library.

     Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Kind regards,
