InfoPath Dev

I've not been successful in getting user or manager data from GetUserProfileByName and no errors are occuring. I'm looking for guidance on what troubleshooting steps I should take beyond what I've tried. My preliminary InfoPath form simply has a textbox that is not successfully retrieving the user account when calling GetUserProfileByName.

Environment:
Development server running Win 2008 R2, SP 2010 Enterprise, SQL Server 2008 R2

I’ve followed Itay Shakury’s blog and reviewed Clayton’s article but am not seeing the user info populate the field on page load:

I’ve confirmed these things:
 - The textbox Value has the function set in the way described in Itay’s blog
       (dataField Value filtered using Name is equal to ”FirstName”)
 - The Data Connection to _vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx:
      - Has “Automatically retrieve data when form is opened” checked
      - Has the input parameter value is not set (blank)
      - Has the UserProfileService service accessible in a browser
      - Uses the correct URL for the environment it is deployed to
 - The textbox Value field has been tested when “Refresh value when formula is recalculated” is both checked & unchecked
 - I've researched GetUserProfileByName usage steps and issues raises on these forums/blogs/articles:

No errors displayed or logged:
 - No error displayed when the page is Previewed
 - When deployed to a development SharePoint 2010 installation:
     - No error logged in Application Event Log
     - No error logged in SharePoint Products Event Log
     - No error logged in 14 Hive LOG

Even after 3 weeks, I’m still looking for help…

I’ll add additional info in case any would have any insight to share with this seemingly basic action.

• I’ve created a simple InfoPath 2010 form with just one field/textbox
• I’ve followed the steps to add a data connection to the User Profile Service, A Form Load query and Set a field's value for the various user attributes:

• I’ve run a trace on the database and verified the profile_GetUserProfileData stored procedure was called
• I verified there is data for the various fields I’m querying (Department, Title, etc.) by executing the capture call results from SQL Profiler
• I changed the Security and Trust to "Full Trust" rather than Domain, then deployed by the administrative upload and approve method (no success)

The simple problem: the InfoPath form does not set/display the data retrieved from the User Profile Service

So - it works in client (that is, in preview) but not in browser? Do you mind sharing your template? If not, could you attach it to a reply (under the Options tab) and as soon as I have a chance, I'll update it to point to one of our ShP 2010 installs, publish as a browser form and see if I have the same results.... At least then you'll know if it is an issue with your ShP configuration or with the form itself....

I finally figured out the problem I was having. It came down to my process steps for filtering the data that I was adding quotes around the filter value and the UI was adding additional quotes around my filter value.

Thanks for offering to test the form since I was concerned about there being a SP configuration issue. I didn't see your entry since my last comment was on this page that was sitting for a few days. It was in deed my mistake in following what I thought was the process steps on the InfoPath form. You can see the other forum entry I made on technet for more details.

Thanks for updating this thread and including the other link -- I'm sure it will be helpful to others with this issue. Glad you got it sorted!

I am having a similar issue but it is actually displaying the first and last name of the system account and not the user's account. I really appreciate any advice.
