    New to InfoPath

I have designed a blank form, using 2007, and had published the form to SharePoint 2007 in a form library, and tried to use the out of the box workflow.  The workflow in SharePoint seems to be screwing up. Here is what I have within the form; I have a table of four columns with 10 rows:

    TO    Action     Digital Signature    E-mail

What I would like to do is have the form be submitted via button or rules to the next individual within the chain. It can via e-mail or workflow at this point do not really care how it gets to the next person in the TO field.  Here is the kicker, the individuals in the TO field will not always be the same, it depends on the inspection type and what section was involved will depend who gets the form.

I have no clue or background on coding, I would like to keep things simple, if the form needs to be reworked, or rebuilt then it can without having a headache on a new person.

    Thanks

    Hi Moleman,

You can use an expression in the TO field in your email submit -- a really great feature of InfoPath. Click the fx button next to the TO field. You should setup a field before this that you will ensure has the correct name(s) of the individuals who will receive the email -- you can accomplish this via rules or Active Directory. Insert this field in the Insert Formula dialog box, and there you are.

    Hope this helps!

You wouldn't have a way of using active directory or step by step process in accomplishing the fx function.  In some of the TO fields I have drop down menus for supervisors in different departments.

    Example:

    TO                 Action          Sign        e-mail

John Doe        no problems   xxxxx   johndoe@email

Select department (IT)  xxxxx  xxxxx it@email

The above is in a table, the table is functioning as a routing slip.

    Thanks for any help/assistance

    Hi Moleman,

If you have the email address stored anywhere in the form, you can pull it out using fx. If the user isn't entering any email addresses, you could pull in a secondary datasource too. Basically if you have access to the email addresses then you can send to them.

How would one use of Active Directory within the form?

Sorry for all the questions, like I mentioned above I am new to InfoPath.  I see alot of usefulness for it.

Would I have to populate a field with every name and e-mail address some where as stated in the previous post?

Hi Moleman, I'm not the right person to tell you how to use Active Directory, unfortunately, so you'd have to ask someone else. However, you can also query a secondary datasource to get an email from a name or ID. You can do that by setting up your list on SharePoint or Access or SQL or wherever, adding it to your secondary datasources, and running a query.
