InfoPath and SharePoint 2007 roles, permissions dilemna

I have a situation that I'd like ideas on how to solve.  I have a form that any employee can fill out. When the user (employee) fills out the form, their supervisor and a few other people will be auto-filled.  Only these people (up to 7) should have access to the form once it is created. The form is filled out to some extent by each person until a designated person deems it completed. Therefore it needs to be available to this group only. The form will get submitted to a private Sharepoint library that only these people should be privy to.

The permission issues arises because any employee can create a form, only the originator of the form and designated other should be able to review it later and no other employee should be able to open it or even see the library where it will ultimately reside in a list.  I can create a library for the empty template and submit it to a private library but then the originator and some designated others may be locked out of it when they in fact need access to it.

Is there a simple way to do store an InfoPath form in a library and keep the form private to only those which are designated on the form itself?

Any ideas are apprciated!  thank you.

My solution will be have 7 column for these 7 names. and use this to filter data. 1. change your list permission, design a view filter records for login user. then they can only see the items they can see and edit. 2. on your form, check if login user is able to see or edit , otherwise , show a blink view.

Thank you for your input - much appreciated!

Your idea was my initial thought but I wasn't sure it could be done with InfoPath. Bascially I'm gathering user names of 7 qualified users on creation and later only allowing this group to view and edit the form.(plus those authorized to the library).

In this scenario, the library would not really be private because I would have to give all authenticated users permission to the SharePoint library so they could modify an existing form assuming they created it or are authorized to open it.  While only an authorized form user could modify the form, anyone could see any columns from the form which are displayed in the list.  Not ideal but it might suffice.

Does anyone know any other way to accomplish this?

I haven't tried this yet but this article may be a potential solution to this problem: http://sharepointgeorge.com/2010/item-level-permissions-infopath-forms-sharepoint-designer-workflows/

I love having forum conversations with myself. :(

I wanted to report back that I set up a SharePoint Designer workflow using the item level permissions tutorial (link I previously posted) which utilizes a codeplex download called "Useful Sharepoint Designer Activites .5 Alpha" and it works fabulous!  Not only does the form only open for the designated users, only those users can see the form in the library.  I thought everyone would still be able to see the form in the library, just not be able to open the form.  This is even better. BTW my understanding is the functionality that this codeplex source code brings to MOSS 2007 is now built into SharePoint 2010.
