    Access denied when testing GetMyInfo

    I have just installed qdabra dbxl on my Sharepoint server. Sharepoint 2010

    Are testing access to Active directory:

    http://xxxxxx/QdabraWebService/aduserinfo.asmx

    Go to GetMyInfo and press Invoke and I receive this message:

    System.Web.HttpException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\xxxxxx80\QdabraWebService\App_Data' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\TESTnet80\QdabraWebService\App_Data' is denied.

       at Qdabra.ADService.MembershipUserInfo.GetUserInfo(String username)
       at Qdabra.Dbxl.WebService.AdUserInfo.GetMyInfo()

    I don't know if the problem is userrights or the file App_Data - because this file doesn't exist in the folder.
    I have checked about the user rights and can't find any problems, hope someone has an idea what the problem can be.

    Hi Conny,

    You can only test these web methods if you are running on the server and using "localhost" in place of "xxxxxx" (your server name). Try that if you have local access to your server (i.e. you're in a browser running on the server where DBXL was installed).

    If you don't have local access to your server where you installed DBXL, that's fine. You can test in InfoPath just as easily. Just create a blank form in the designer and add a data connection to GetMyInfo. Drag the data fields into your view and preview. Click ok to security warning dialog since you're running local to preview (won't happen if deployed to domain site) and see if it fills in with data.

    Let me know if you get stuck.

    Hi Patrick

    I'm sorry I didn't tell, but I had already tried the "Infopath test" as well, but with same result:

    Some external data was not retrieved. The form will load without the external data.

    Details:
    The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

    System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Web.HttpException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\TESTnet80\QdabraWebService\App_Data' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\TESTnet80\QdabraWebService\App_Data' is denied.

       at Qdabra.Dbxl.WebService.AdUserInfo.GetMyInfo()

    I can call this address: http://xxxxxx/QdabraWebService/ADUserInfo.asmx on the server, where Sharepoint and DBXL are installed without any problem - from there I call GetMyInfo (http://xxxxxx/QdabraWebService/ADUserInfo.asmx?op=GetMyInfo) next window I can press Invoke to test if it's working - it doesn't, I get the first message. "xxxxxx" is the sitename
    In the qdabra active directory webservice user guide, they tell this as a quick step to verify if the installation is working.

    I still think there is a problem on the server, but I can see exactly where it is.

    The DBXL installer will create a Qdabra eventlog. Please check if there is additional detail.  Open the eventlog and you should see the 'Qdabra' eventlog.  If using Windows Server 2008, you will need to expand the 'Application and Services Logs' folder.

    It will also help to know what settings you used for setup.

    Re: Access denied when testing GetMyInfo

    The installation is done on the Sharepoint server,  Setup is run as administrator. Sql server is on another server - Windows 2008 R2 server with SQL 2008 R2, the same sql server is hosting the Sharepoint databases. I'm using Windows authentication and have created a domain account for DBXL, and there are installed the two DBXL databases on the SQL server - no problem.

    Nest step I have tried: Deleted the Sharepoint server administator account and the DBXL account (both are domain accounts) from the local adminstrator group and from the DBXL admin group on the Sharepoint server, added them again and restarted the server. Which results in a new error, the other problem looks like solved.

    The new error is an SQL error, but to which database? I have also looked in the event viewer log to see if there were furhter details regarding the problem - but no, no further details.

    I have been checking the databases I think is relevant if they have the read and write permissions and have also tried to give dbo permission, it doesn't change anything, so my question is which database is the problem?
