I have a text box data type URL in my form to allow the user to open some relevant data sites.

They work, however the behavior is that it redirects the 1st tab vs. opening a new window or opening a new tab.

Also, you cannot right click the HyperLink and have the menu available.

Using;  IE7.  Form is rendering in local infopath client.

I did some searching and it seems there is not URL construct that forces a new tab and one that forces a new window is being depricated.

Any insights or suggestions welcome!

There's nothing in the designer UI that allows you to do this. However, you might try to export the source files and directly modify the view XSL file in a text editor to add the target="_blank" attribute to the hyperlink directly. My test showed that even after modifying the hyperlink in the designer UI, the manual change appears to be maintained.

HOWEVER--testing the updated hyperlink in the form, it still opened in the first tab each time. So I'm not sure how this can be fixed.
