Relative links to data connection libraries located in different SharePoint site collections are not supported.

    Hello all,

I am adding a new data connection to the InfoPath form. When I convert the connection to use the settings from data connection files, I am getting the following error when i try to publish

Relative links to data connection libraries located in different SharePoint site collections are not supported.

    One solution I found was,

    1. The existing data connections that has been converted to use the settings from data connection files has to be removed.

    2. All the data connections has to be added again and has to be converted so that it uses the data connection files in the new site collection.

But, is there anyway that i can add new data connection without removing the existing ones ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kiran

I think you should be using absolute paths, i.e. a centrally located data connection library.

We've run into the same issue lately with 2010 - we thought we could use relative paths, but even after manually modifying the XSF it didn't work so well and it was a hassle to manually modify.

UDCX files are a best practice. Relative ones won't work across site collections - that's by design. Use absolute paths.
