InfoPath 2010 - Problem using integer fields in SharePoint List Data Connection

I'm having a problem seeing/using/selecting an integer/whole number field when using a Forms Library as the data source.  The source Forms Library contains published forms where one or more of the fields in the published form is an integer/whole number.  With InfoPath 2007 I am able to read and use the published fields/values just fine.  With InfoPath 2010, the integer fields are not even available for selection in the new form template.  However, the SharePoint-specific 'ID' field (an integer) is available.  Even stranger is that existing IP 2007 forms displayed via IP 2010 with these integer fields in use continue to function just fine, including using the integer fields in max() functions.  The same problem occurs whether using IP 2010 to build a 2007 or 2010 format form.  These are not browser-only forms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This link contains much more of my explanation: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointinfopath/thread/9ef885eb-495f-40d3-90ed-34ccf10bace5?prof=required

I read your MSDN posts. Sounds like a bug, but we haven't seen this here. Maybe you have an old version or something. The other possibility is that there's some new setting to make the columns public. Have you looked at the columns in SharePoint and see if there is some setting that would allow them to be "sniffed" from the DC?

Sorry I don't have more ideas...

Thanks Patrick.  I did some additional testing following your response, on a brand new PC, Win 7, fresh InfoPath 2007 install, MOSS 2007.  I started with a new form template and new Forms Library and received the same results.  However, this time I tested with a Decimal field as well and that did work fine end-to-end.  It appears that some support of the Integer/Whole Number format is being dropped in InfoPath 2010. At this point, it means that existing InfoPath 2007 forms with integer fields would need those fields converted to Decimal if they are converted to IP 2010 format forms.  The 2007 integer fields still work in the form, but they cannot be modified at the Data Connection level (i.e. can't add to or remove from DC).  The integer-format field from the IP 2007-format form built via IP 2010 and published to MOSS 2007 does not appear as a Column under the Form Library Settings, but does appear in the default View.

That's quite an interesting theory. I should contact Microsoft and ask them about it.

Did you find a solution to the above issue?
