    Repeating Table

    Hi,

I have 3 different categories and each of them are a repating table. I want users to insert a line under a specific category and fill a field. So in my InfoPath template, I have "insert item" under each category. When I preview my form and click "insert item" under "Category 1", it inserts lines/items also under "Category 2" and "Category 3". How can I set it up so when I click "insert item" under "Category 1", it will only insert an item under "Category" without touching the others?

    Category 1

    Category 2

    Category 3

    Thank you,

    Regards,

Is this 3 different repeating tables? I mean are they bound the the same data source or to different data source? It should not do this if there is a different data source for each repeating table... Could you include your form so we can have a look at it?

They are bound to the same data source. Is there anyway to achieve what I am trying to do as explained in my initial post by pointing the 3 repeating tables to the same data source?

I don't think this is possible... you probably will have to bind your 3 repeating tables to 3 different data sources... Anyone else has an idea of how this could be achieved with only one data source?

    Actually.... there is.

You'll need a field in your repeating data source that has something you can filter on -- like maybe the category name? Then, in the properties for the repeating control, you can set a specific default value for that field when the user inserts a new row / section. Then add conditional formatting to each of your tables. See attached for a sample....
