Multiple Selection List Box & Repeating Tables

    Hello.

First of all, this is a teriffic site.  It's a tremendous resource.  Secondly, I've just started getting into IP, so my skills are extremely poor.  I'm not a programmer in any capacity; just trying to cobble things together.

Here's my problem, I've created the attached.  The idea is that an issue may arise and it may apply to specific divisions.  However, the affected divisions may change from each reporting period.  There is a repeating section, in which there is a drop-down box to select the reporting period, and a MSLB that lists out all the divisions.  The field at the bottom of the section concatenates the divisions and delimits them with a ";#" so that I can promote the divisions to a choice column in SharePoint.  So far, so good.  I got this part to work, thanks to the advice on your site!

There are two fields at the bottom of the repeating section.  The frist field simply finds the max value of the reporting period field in the repeating section (for example, June 2010 has a value of 1; December 2010 has a value of 2 and so on...).  So, when a user creates a new entry in the repeating section and selects a new reporting date, the field at the bottom will pull the most-recent date.  This works too without any problems.  The goal is to find the most-recent reporting period and the divisions that are affected during that period.  These values will then be promoted to fields in SP.

Here's the problem, select the reporting period and click on a division.  The field at the bottom pulls the correct value for the date, and the concatenated field in the repeating section works, but the field next to the date field at the bottom doesn't update.  It will update if you select another division, and then remove it.  It only updates when an item is unchecked.  I need it to update whenever the MSLB is changed.

The only issue I have is that Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VLST) is not installed at work, so I'm limited to just using rules, no programming.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

That is an interesting result you are getting! I've attached another copy of your template -- I added a rule on the repeating group bound to the multi select list box that does effectively the same thing as your default value -- I think with both of them in place (kind of a belt and suspenders approach) the template does what you are wanting...

    That looks great.  Thank you!

Another question... the parameters have changed, and now our users would like to be able to see all reporting periods in the SharePoint list, not just the most-recent reporting period.  Originally, the idea was that only the most-recent period would show, but we'd like to be able to see all of the reporting periods on the ShraePoint list and sort/filter if necessary.  Basically, there would be one form for an issue, but the issue could be listed multiple times on the SP site (once for each reporting period).

I've seen the post regarding how to populate a list programatically, but as I mentioned before, I don't have VLST, so I'm restricted to only using rules.

    Thanks again.

P.S.  I forgot to mention that I do have SharePoint Designer 2007, if that can be of any help.
